Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) seeks to hire an outstanding BE/BC Internal Medicine Physician for a faculty position with the Sutter Alta Bates Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program in Oakland, CA

  •  40-hour per week commitment to the Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Core Faculty Duties and Services:

Core Faculty are a foundational element of graduate medical education that teach residents how to care for patients. Core Faculty provides an important bridge allowing residents to grow and become practice-ready, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. They are role models for future generations of physicians by demonstrating compassion, commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, professionalism, and a dedication to lifelong learning. Core Faculty members create an effective learning environment by acting in a professional manner and attending to the well-being of the residents and themselves.

The duties of the Core Faculty include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and supervises teaching services, curriculum, and rotations as requested by the Program Director
  • Precepts residents in Continuity Clinic
  • Assists in resident evaluation
  • Assists with resident recruiting
  • Assists in curriculum development and monitoring
  • Presents part of the formal residency didactic series as assigned by Program Director
  • Participates in the clinical management of the practice, particularly quality improvement activities
  • Participates in Residency Program Faculty Committee
  • Participates in appropriate clinical staff activities
  • Advises and evaluates assigned residents
  • Ensures that faculty and residents comply with all Sutter Health operational policies, procedures, and processes which include, but are not limited to those related to staffing, scheduling, registration, billing, collections, reporting, proper encounter documentation and coding
  • Ensures that faculty and residents comply with procurement and capital equipment purchases process and agree to work within the framework of the standardized medical supply, equipment and office supply, formulary, medical records, clinical pathway guidelines, etc.
  • Ensures that faculty and residents comply with all managed care policies including utilization review and monitoring
  • Participate in committees as assigned by the Program Director
