Opportunity Information

The Chief of Staff to the PAFMG CEO is an operational partner that supports the coordination and strategic alignment of diverse business activities. This position enables the CEO to work most effectively with internal and external stakeholders and fulfill his/her commitments to the physician shareholders, employed physicians/APCs, PAFMG operational leaders and the Board of Directors. The Chief of Staff will be a thought partner to the PAFMG CEO and work closely with the PAFMG Board Chair as well as their direct reports as instructed. The Chief of Staff will coordinate with other staff members who support both the CEO and the board. The role will require broad visibility into the organization to identify challenges, develop solutions, be an integral part of executing critical workflows, and managing the CEO’s bandwidth and activities. The Chief of Staff will effectively build consensus and manage competing requests, with a combination of focus and flexibility as well as a willingness to play an active, behind-the-scenes role. This role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and strong analytical, organizational and supervision skills.

The Chief of Staff will be responsible for prioritizing and organizing critical issues and information to facilitate effective decision making. In conjunction with the Executive Assistant to the CEO, this role is responsible for designing and executing the Annual Operating Calendar for the organization as well as managing the Executive Team’s operating rhythm and coordination of group-wide business activities for leaders, physicians and APCs.

Experience:

• Be an accomplished leader with at least ten (10) years of broad organizational experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in an ambulatory setting with a physician medical group, in a range of areas and capacities that position her/him to take on a broad spectrum of different kinds of responsibilities.

• Ability to operate in a collaborative and highly matrixed environment and have experience sustaining a sense of order and structure to deliver results.

• Experience collaborating and consulting with multiple executives.

• Experience of being productive in a fast-paced team.

• Supervisory experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Skills as noted earlier: Organization, diplomacy, relationship management and strong partnership.

• An excellent written and verbal communicator with experience crafting professional communications. Strong knowledge and technical skills with business software tools

• Excellent skills in collaborating across divisions, functions, and geography, with a skill for engaging colleagues at all levels in projects and processes while continuing to own and drive them.

• Ability to interact with other executives to achieve a common goal without compromising what may often be an opposing point of view.

• A leader who can think steps ahead of the challenge and advises about the risk and reward of proceeding in a specific direction.

• Has the ability to motivate the team through non-authoritative influence, delegate effectively, champion diversity, equity, and inclusion and manage performance; widely viewed as a partner to others.

• Encompasses the inclination to seek and analyze data from a variety of sources to support decisions and to align others with the organization's overall strategy.

• Able to work both independently and as part of a team on a variety of projects.

• Manage his/her time effectively to meet deadlines and gracefully navigate competing priorities even with varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Strong project management skills with excellent analytical and organizational skills who can synthesize information, ask insightful questions, spot trends quickly, and make recommendations.

• Organizational and political agility.

Schedule:

Full Time on-site 5 days a week with up to 20% travel in the Bay Area including Sacramento.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Communications, Organizational Strategy or related field
